The title says it all! This has been a week of happenings: the siding is finished on the wing, and we hope to finish the main house while the weather holds. We had an unexpected snow earlier in the week, which lasted just a day of dusting on the ground. Yesterday we had a wonderful visitor just passing through: a magnificent moose walked up from the swamp, past the front of the house, and off into the woods! Slow and stately, like a giant ocean liner, he loped on by.

Hi, I'm in the saving stage of our hope to build a first day, but I'm getting a little discouraged by what I'm reading about the cost of subcontractors. We are building on a lot we own, and it already has gas, electric, water, and sewer. If you don't mind my asking, how much did your first day cost you finished? What subcontractors did you have to hire? It doesn't look like you have central heating/ac, but what about the cost of the other stuff (water, electrical, etc)? Thanks, and awesome blog!
